Anibex Soluble Powder for Pigs

For the symptomatic treatment of fever and inflammation in pigs.

ANIBEX is effective in the treatment of inflammation in pigs, and also effective in the treatment of pain during fever and inflammation caused by viral or bacterial infections. ANIBEX can be used in combination with concurrent antibiotic therapy in pigs.

Directions for Use

Contraindications

This product should not be used in animals with known hypersensitivity to sodium salicylate.

This product should not be used in combination with drugs known to have anticoagulant properties.

This product should not be used in animals with severe liver and kidney affections.

This product should not be used in case of gastrointestinal ulcerations and chronic gastrointestinal disorders.

This product should not be used in case of malfunction of the hematopoietic system, coagulopathies, and haemorrhagic diathesis.

Precautions

DO NOT use in piglets of less than 4 weeks of age.

DO NOT use during pregnancy and lactation.

Concurrent use with any other NSAID or steroids should be avoided.

Concurrent administration of potentially nephrotoxic drugs (e.g. aminoglycosides) should be avoided.

Salicylic acid is highly plasma (albumin) bound and competes with a variety of compounds for plasma protein binding sites (e.g. ketoprofen).

Sodium salicylate may inhibit clotting of blood, it is recommended that elective surgery should not be performed on animals within 7 days after the end of the treatment.

Side effects

Gastrointestinal irritation may occur, especially in animals with pre-existing gastrointestinal disease. Such irritation may clinically be manifested by production of black manure due to blood loss in the gastrointestinal tract. Inhibition of normal blood clotting may occur incidentally. If this effect occurs, it will be reversible, and effects will diminish within approximately 7 days.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

ANIBETMsoluble powder can be administered orally through the drinking water. Clean drinking water should be used. Prepare fresh solutions daily.

The recommended dose rate is 35 mg/kg body weight per day once daily for a maximum of 5 days.

Water consumption should be calculated on daily basis or user should seek information from veterinarian/ industry recommendations about average water intake per pigs's age or weight range. Water consumption in pigs can vary depending on the pigs’ age and size, temperature difference and seasons.

Following formula can be used to calculate the concentration of ANIBEXTM in drinking water: 

 

Proportioner use

Determine the dose using the formula below. Mix the dose of ANIBEXTM and water in the medication tank. The amount of water in the medication tank should be 20 to 100L. The medicated water should be administered to the water line via a proportioner over a period of up to 24 hours. The proportioner and medication tank should be supervised regularly to ensure the medication is being dispensed to the water line.

The use of suitably calibrated weighing equipment for the administration of the calculated amount of ANIBEXTM (sodium salicylate) is recommended.

General Directions

ANIBEXTM is readily dissolved and dispersed in water. Prepare fresh solution daily and ensure that full dose is consumed within 24 hours. During treatment, do not supply liquid which is not medicated until the medicated liquid is consumed.

It is recommended during the treatment period daily water consumption is monitored to ensure correct dosing and required daily water intake. Significant variations in water consumption should be reported to the treating veterinarian. In cases where animals do not have adequate water intake or are debilitated, alternative dose method for treatments of pain and fewer should be selected.
