APRAMAX Apramycin Soluble Powder

For the treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to Apramycin in pigs, calves and broilers. 

Indications

Pigs: For the treatment of bacterial enteritis caused by susceptible stains of Escherichia coli and other organisms susceptible to Apramycin.

Calves: For the prophylaxis or treatment of bacterial enteritis in calves caused by E. coli and Salmonella spp. susceptible to Apramycin.

Broilers: For the use in the control and treatment of colisepticaemia (colibacillosis) in broilers caused by susceptible stains of E. coli.

Dosage and Administration:

Please note: 1.68g of Apramax Apramycin Soluble POwder = approximately 1g Apramycin activity.

1. PIGS

Dosage

Neonatal: Pigs should receive 25mg apramycin activity per kg bodyweight daily. Start treatment on the day of birth and continue once daily for two additional days.

Weanling: For the treatment of colibacillosis, pigs should consume sufficient medicated drinking water to obtain 12.5mg of apramycin activity per kg of bodyweight daily. Continue treatment for 7 days. Prepare fresh solution daily to ensure activity.

Mixing Directions - Pigs

Neonatal: To prepare solution for treatment of neonatal pigs, add 1.68g (approximately 1g of active constituent) to 25mL of water and mix well. When completely dissolved, administer 1mL of solution to each pig.

Weanling: Add ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder to the only source of drinking water to provide desired apramycin activity per litre. See table below.

To mix effectively, add the appropriate quantity of ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder to five times its own volume of water. Stir well and allow solution to stand for a few minutes then stir again. When completely dissolved, add to the full volume of water and stir well. Prepare fresh medicated water every 24 hours to ensure activity.

2. CALVES

Dosage

Treatment: Calves should receive 20 to 40mg of Apramycin activity per kg of bodyweight daily according to severity of the disease. 

For Prophylaxis, calves should receive 10mg Apramycin activity per kg bodyweight daily.

Continue treatment for 5 days. Add ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder to the drinking water, milk or replacer according to the table below.

Add the appropriate quantity of ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder to five times its own volume of water. Stir well and allow solution to stand a few minutes then stir again. When completely dissolved, add to the full volume of drinking water, milk or replacer.

Solution should be prepared immediately before use to ensure activity.

3. BROILERS

Dosage

250-500mg Apramycin activity/litre of drinking water (84.0-168g ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder per 200L) for 5 consecutive days. This is equivalent to an average of 40-80mg Apramycin activity per kg of bodyweight daily.

Add the appropriate quantity of ApraMax Apramycin Soluble Powder to five times its own volume of water. Stir well and allow solution to stand a few minutes then stir again. When completely dissolved, add to the full volume of drinking water and stir well. Prepare fresh medicated drinking water every 24 hours to ensure activity.

Any variation by the prescribing veterinarian to the approved dose, frequency, duration, route, disease or target species may require extending the approved withholding period. 

Withholding Period

WITHHOLDING PERIODS:

MEAT: DO NOT USE less than 14 days before slaughter for human consumption.

TRADE ADVICE: EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL (ESI): An ESI has not been established for this product. Note - observing the meat withholfing period may not be sufficient to mitigate potential risks to export trade.
