Bimotrim Injection

·         Indications

For the treatment of a wide range of diseases including respiratory, alimentary, urogenital and general infections caused by bacteria sensitive to sulfadoxine/trimethoprim therapy in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and horses.

 

Bimotrim Injection is active against gram positive and gram negative bacteria, for example Streptococcus spp, Staphylococcus spp, Salmonella spp, Pneumococcus spp, E. coli, Brucella spp, Proteus spp, Corynebacterium spp, Klebsiella spp, and Campylobacter spp.

Restraints:

 

DO NOT USE in female sheep or goats which are producing or may in the future produce milk or milk products for human consumption.

 

 

Precautions:

Intravenous injection should be administered as slowly as reasonably practicable to avoid possible shock. Not recommended for cats and kittens.

 

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Use the contents of the vial within 28 days of initial broaching and discard any unused portion.

 

Dosage: 3mL per 50kg bodyweight in all species, which is equivalent to 15mg active ingredients per kg bodyweight. A single injection may be sufficient but in more severe infections the dose should be repeated at 24 hour intervals until the clinical signs have resolved.

 

Administration:

Cattle, sheep, goats: By intramuscular, subcutaneous or intravenous injection.

 

Pigs: By intramuscular injection only. In cases of acute infection the product can be administered intravenously.

 

Horses, Dogs: By slow intravenous injection only.

Withholding Period

WITHHOLDING PERIODS

MEAT:  - DO NOT USE less than 14 days (cattle, sheep, goats and pigs), 28 days (horses) before slaughter for human consumption.

 

MILK: CATTLE - Milk collected from cows within 72 hours (6 milkings) following treatment MUST NOT BE USED for human consumption or processing or fed to bobby calves.

 

MILK: SHEEP & GOATS – DO NOT USE in female sheep or goats which are producing or may in future produce milk or milk products for human consumption.
